Heisuke Mashimo is a supporting character in Sakamoto Days. He is a low-ranking assassin known for his talent in sniping, but he lacks versatility in other skills. This limitation has made it difficult for him to find steady employment, leading him to live in a severely damaged tent on top of a building.
Personal Life
Heisuke shares a close bond with his pet bird, Piisuke.
Appearance
Heisuke is a tall young man with a lean build. He has spiky brown hair, black eyes, and fair skin. Notably, he has a bandage on the bridge of his nose and a crosshair tattoo on his right cheek. His attire includes a black jacket with a green line across his chest, a patch on his left shoulder, green camo shorts, black socks, boots, and a backpack.
Personality
Heisuke can be described as childish and simple-minded. He is emotional, optimistic, and friendly, but he is also prone to tears, which are exacerbated by his low self-esteem. His air-headedness is evident in his crude drawings that represent his thoughts, as seen through Shin’s clairvoyance.
Despite his shortcomings, Heisuke possesses incredible willpower and an emotionless side. When he realized he was teaming up with Sakamoto, he initially turned his rifle on him. In missions, he focuses solely on the target, disregarding personal allegiances. However, as he develops relationships, he shows a loyal side and is determined to prove himself as the best sniper.
He has a soft spot for children and dislikes liars. He often adds “Yo” into his sentences.
Background
Heisuke often contemplates the cost of feeding himself and Piisuke for a month. He decides to pursue a bounty on Sakamoto and, upon reaching Sakamoto’s store, he is misled by Shin into believing Sakamoto is not present. After receiving a bag of pork buns, he enters an airsoft tournament to win a grand prize of one million yen. Initially, he is denied entry due to being a solo player but convinces Sakamoto and Shin to form a team with him.
During the tournament, Heisuke showcases his sharpshooting skills. However, after realizing the truth about Sakamoto, he confronts them, injuring Sakamoto twice. Ultimately, he is defeated when Shin distracts him, allowing Sakamoto to neutralize him. Despite this, he wins the tournament alongside Sakamoto and Shin, receiving fifty yen as his share.
Skills and Abilities
Master Marksman
Heisuke’s proficiency with a sniper rifle is exceptional. He has a natural talent for sharpshooting, which he refined during his training. He demonstrated his skill by assembling his rifle and successfully shooting at Sakamoto while leaping backward. In the airsoft tournament, he eliminated four players in an instant, earning recognition from Sakamoto, who noted he had never faced such an extraordinary sniper.
During his academy days, Heisuke set an unbeaten record by firing a gun 96 times, a feat that even Sakamoto couldn’t match. He is regarded as a legend among JCC students, earning the nickname “Dragoon.”
Enhanced Durability
Heisuke has shown remarkable durability, continuing to snipe even after being stabbed in the abdomen, indicating a higher tolerance to pain typical of an assassin.
