Akira Akao is a supporting character in Sakamoto Days. She is a first-year student at the JCC and the niece of Rion Akao, who taught her how to see the “paths” that lead to a person’s death.
Appearance
Akira is a fair-skinned, petite young woman with short blue hair that has purple tips. She wears her hair in a messy, low ponytail, with bangs framing her cheeks and a vertical strand falling onto her forehead. She shares warm orange-yellow eyes with her aunt, but her youthful appearance sets her apart.
During her first appearance, Akira wore a black leather jacket over a white t-shirt paired with dark green pants. She was later seen in a green leather jacket with a yellow shirt underneath and pink baggy pants.
Personality
Akira is kind-hearted but shy and easily frightened, often feeling anxious in unfamiliar places like JCC during her first week. Despite her timid nature, she is dedicated to caring for those around her, which sometimes leads her into unwanted situations. Her determination to find her aunt Rion Akao is evident when she accepted a challenge from her teacher, Etsuko Satoda, to attack her freely for 24 hours to gain a hint on the database.
Akira shows deep care for her friends and often bases her decisions on her aunt Rion, whom she admires as a role model. This strong connection sometimes makes her reluctant to accept help from others, as she prefers to act in a way she believes Rion would.
Combat Skills
Akira possesses a more bloodthirsty side that emerges when fighting those who have harmed her friends. She has no qualms about injuring or killing her opponents, a trait that seems to run in her family, especially after learning about her aunt Rion’s death. However, she is also averse to killing and panics in high-stress situations, as shown during the JCC Transfer Exams Arc when she was captured.

Akira has repeatedly demonstrated her skills as a talented assassin, easily overcoming applicants during the JCC entrance test. She showcases quick reflexes and the ability to block decisive attacks, as seen when she saved Kanaguri from Sakamoto’s hit. Her special vision allows her to react swiftly to multiple attacks from her peers.

Akira has the ability to see paths, a skill taught by her aunt Rion. This allows her to visualize imaginary lines representing potential actions to eliminate a target. However, when faced with stronger opponents, she can become anxious, envisioning an impassable barrier between them.

Akira has demonstrated remarkable speed, able to close in on JCC applicants before they can react. She intervened during a fight between Sakamoto and Kanaguri, blocking a decisive attack. Additionally, she can sew quickly, even while falling, as shown when she created a parachute from the clothes of her friends while they were in free fall.

Akira is recognized as a masterful sewer, able to stitch clothes together expertly. This skill was highlighted when she created a parachute in midair, showcasing her talent under pressure.
