In Episode 3 of Sakamoto Days, fans are finally introduced to the beloved character Nagumo, a recurring supporting figure and an assassin who stands out as one of Sakamoto’s few allies.
Nagumo arrives on the scene to deliver a crucial warning: the Japanese Association of Assassins has placed a staggering 1 billion yen bounty on Sakamoto’s head. Although he exits shortly after, he leaves a memorable impression with his charismatic and humorous demeanor.
In the sole popularity poll conducted for the series in 2023, Nagumo secured an impressive second place, trailing only behind Shin Asakura. This is particularly noteworthy considering Shin is often viewed as the main character, as much of the narrative unfolds from his perspective. Nagumo’s high ranking signifies his strong appeal, surpassing even Sakamoto, who came in fifth.
Currently, the anime is exploring the Amusement Park Arc, where Sakamoto and his family visit a local amusement park, inadvertently putting them in the crosshairs of assassins. As a result, Lu and Shin are on high alert, striving to shield Sakamoto’s wife and daughter, Aoi and Hana, from any potential threats.
The episode reaches its peak during a thrilling rollercoaster battle between Shin and Tatsu, the primary hitman targeting Sakamoto. The action is exhilarating, and the fight scenes are expertly crafted.
However, fans of Lu from the previous episode may be disappointed, as she has limited screen time in this installment.
Looking ahead, the story is poised to remain within the amusement park setting for Episode 4, which promises to showcase more of Lu and Sakamoto in action as additional assassins close in on them. Given that the anime typically adapts about three manga chapters per episode, this arc is expected to conclude by Episode 5, paving the way for the upcoming Lab Arc.
